- Individuals or organizations (teams) including schools, research institutes and businesses can submit applications to attend the contest no later than the deadline (free of charge)
- Awarded contestants are expected to attend the exhibition/demonstration of superior robots till 17:00 everyday between November 7 and November 8, 2009 when the Pohang Robot Festival will be held.
- Intelligent Robots
- - The Intelligent Robot Contest shall be attended by such robots as are equipped with any kinds of sensors that can recognize texts, voices and objects and operate accordingly, and by the robots whose intelligence or functions have been improved after attending such a contest in the past.
- - Micro mice, remote-control cars and other similar appliances cannot attend the contest.
- Cleaning Robots
- - The Cleaning Robots Contest shall be attended by such robots as can perceive the surroundings of normal houses and clean up them. There are no limitations to contestant robot's hardware size, which must have all built-in electric sources.
- - The robots that are not applied with new technologies may not attend the contest.
- - It is encouraged that contestant robots should be improved through enhanced intelligence and technologies with which location can be creatively recognized, maps prepared, moving conducted and cleaning can be implemented.
- Final applications should be submitted until June. 30, Tuesday, 2009.

- Application documents
- - Application form, which can be downloaded from the site of http://irc.piro.re.kr
- - Two photos (8cm×12cm) of the robot, and the explanation about the movements, structure and others of the robot. (* The explanation should be included in five or so A4-size papers and, at the same time so that it may be published in a book.)
- - A demonstration video clip or a moving images computerized file should be also submitted without fail.
- Demonstration facilities
- - Objects set up for demonstration (obstacles and other things to remove or work on)
* Contestants themselves shall establish and manage the objects from November. 5, 2009. - - The managing committee of the contest will decide other specifics if needed.
* Transport and take-out
Contestants shall transport the objects to the contest venue and carry out them after the contest upon the permission of the contest's authority. However, awarded robots cannot be taken out without leave until the end of the exhibition.
- Demonstration exercises
- Demonstration exercises can be conducted for about one hour at an appointed place on the day just before the contest, with limits to the frequency and time span and with approval from the organizing body of the contest.

- - Successful applicants, who are selected through paper screening, are supposed to complete the set-up of their robots and demonstration facilities no later than the morning on September 18 Thursday, so that the contest may be operated without a hitch.
- - Successful applicants are recommended to secure beforehand relevant information for the robots to operate during the contest, information on the illumination and floor conditions of the contest place.
